Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

AMPAS, best known for its annual Academy Awards, devotes considerable resources to a host of motion picture-related educational, scientific and cultural endeavors, including the technical aspects of filmmaking and the preservation of motion pictures. The Digital Motion Picture Archive Framework Project will build upon current Academy research on digital preservation issues from the perspective of the major motion picture studios, extending the effort to include independent filmmakers and smaller film archives.

AIIM – PDF/A Archive Committee

The PDF/Archive (PDF/A) committee is responsible for specifying PDF tags for the archival or long-term preservation of electronic documents.

American Society of Media Photographers

This project will expand existing guidelines with recommendations for refined production workflows, archiving methods and best practices based on image use and capture methods and promote the use of the guidelines through a Web site and awareness campaigns within the professional photographer community.

ARTstor

This project aims, through training and tools, to enable photographers to submit archive-ready images to repositories such as ARTstor. Development of a tool will allow photographers to capture technical and preservation metadata early in the creation workflow and embed the metadata in their digital images, while outreach efforts at art schools and professional conferences will both generate requirements and raise awareness of the importance of metadata to the long-term usability and preservation of digital photographs.

DuraCloud

Cloud technologies use remote computers to provide local services through the Internet. DuraCloud will let an institution provide data storage and access without having to maintain its own dedicated technical infrastructure.

National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Producers and Engineers Wing -Metada Schema

The adoption of digital recording has virtually eliminated the vital documentation once associated with the analog recording process. At the same time digital recording has created tremendous unrealized potential to create and maintain all key information about a recording throughout its life cycle. This project focuses on creating a standardized approach for gathering and managing metadata for recorded music and developing software models to assist creators and owners in collecting the data.

As a professional trade association, PMA helps the worldwide photo imaging community achieve business success and adapt to new technologies. PMA continues its 85-year legacy of connecting photo imaging businesses to a network of knowledge and support.

Digital Library Federation

The Digital Library Federation (DLF) is a consortium of libraries and related agencies that are pioneering the use of electronic-information technologies to extend collections and services.

Digital Preservation Coalition (UK)

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is a not-for-profit membership organization whose primary objective is to raise awareness of the importance of the preservation of digital material and the attendant strategic, cultural and technological issues. It acts as an enabling and agenda-setting body within the digital preservation world and works to meet this objective through a number of high level goals. Its vision is to make our digital memory accessible tomorrow.

International Imaging Industry Association
